One of the reasons I don't like the United States is simple....because there is everything. You can buy anything you want to have, make, cook and so forth. An affluent society might end up people being fat or being lazy. In that sense, I like a country where everything is not possible to get. Then, I miss something I can't have there and also I could realize how important something is to me. Many things I can learn in the country. The picture shows some fried Korean street food which we cook with difficulty to find ingredients by ourselves at Copenhagen. To me, the street food that you can easily find in anywhere in South Korea is more than just cheap food on the street, since I came to Holland.
내가 미국을 그다지 좋아하지 않는 이유는 간단하다. 미국에는 모든 것들이 있기때문이다. 여러분이 소유하길 원하고, 만들기 원하고, 요리하길 원하는 모든 것들을 구할 수 있다. 풍요로운 사회는 결국 사람들의 비만과 게으름을 낳을 것 같다. 그런 의미에서, 나는 모든 것을 구할 수 없는 그런 나라가 좋다. 그곳에서 내가 가질 수 없는 것들을 그리워하고 또한 그만큼 얼마나 그 가질 수 없는 것이 소중한지 깨닫는다. 풍요보다 부족함에서 많은 것들을 배운다. 사진은 한국의 튀김 분식이다. 물론 우리가 코펜하겐에서 힘들여 만들었다. 나에게는 적어도, 한국에 가면 어디서나 볼 수 있는 길거리 음식이 단지 길가의 저렴한 먹거리로는 보이지 않는다. 이곳에 온 이후로.

A food control condition certificate with cute and sad faces in a restaurant at Copenhagen. The Food Authority has used the smiles to let customers know how safely food in a restaurant is controlled. If you are interest in this system, please visit here. It shows the current condition as well as the ones during last nine months, which makes it easy that people can see the history of the restaurant with regard to sanitation. It is a design that gives people a feeling of fun in dealing with sanitary conditions, which could be easily nasty and unpleasant.

The extension, the work of architect Zaha Hadid. It seems to be called 'the extension' because I suppose it is just the extended part of Ordrupgaard art museum found in 1918 in a Copenhagen suburb. I was told it is a snail-shaped extension. It looks like a dolphin head to me, though. It is designed to add galleries for special exhibitions. I was told there are artworks of Danish and French 19th- and 20th-century realist and naturalist including Degas, Gaugauin, Manet and Renoir in the museum. I don't know much about the architect but I like this work a lot.
자하 하디드의 작품, The extension. 이것은 생각컨데 1918년 코펜하겐 교외에서 세워진 Ordrupgaard 아트뮤지엄의 신축으로 연장된 부분이기 때문에 The extension이라고 불리는 것 같다. 이 건축물의 모양이 달팽이 모양이라는데, 내 눈에는 돌고래 머리처럼 보인다. 이 The extension는 특별전시를 위한 갤러리들을 위한 것이라고 한다. 드가, 고갱, 마네 그리고 르느와르를 포함한 19, 20세기의 프랑스, 덴마크 realist들과 naturalist들의 작품들이 전시되어 있다고 한다. 자하 하디드를 잘 알지는 못하지만 이 건축물 마음에 든다.

There is a cafeteria at Ordrupgaard, a state-owned art museum in Denmark. It locates in the extension by iraqi architect, Zaha Hadid. All the design of the cafeteria including its graphic design is adding something to the extension's aesthetics.
덴마크의 주립 아트뮤지엄, Ordrupgaard에는 카페테리아가 하나 있다. 이라크의 건축가 자하 하디드에 의해 추가로 설계된 The extension에 위치해 있다. 그랙픽 디자인을 포함한 그 카페테리아의 모든 디자인들이 The extension의 미학에 어떤 무엇을 더하고 있는듯 하다.

It has a typical form of a coffee cup: curvy shape, wide mouth and narrow bottom. From the aesthetic point of view, it suits well when black colored coffee is filled in it. Whereas, it is very practical to drink a soup in it because it has a grip which helps hold it: the picture shows a coffee cup filled in Korean soy bean soup. Elegant products such as the cup could be something different when they meet our daily things.
곡면, 위 부분이 바닥에 비해 넓은 전형적 형태의 커피잔. 미적 관점에서는 이 잔에 까만색의 커피가 담겨있는 것이 잘 어울린다. 반면, 손잡이가 있어 이 컵은 soup을 마실 때에도 아주 실용적이다. 사진은 한국의 된장국이 담겨진 커피잔을 보여주고 있다. 이런 컵과 같은 elegant한 제품들이 우리들 일상의 것들과 만날 때 무엇인가 다른 의미를 가질 수 있다.

I am a person who used to enjoy Japanese erotic animes. Women in the animes were usually dealt with as sexual subjects in my fantasy world, to be honest. I am not a hentai, though. When I saw the right one in the picture, I was able to see things existing behind what I had thought about Japanese anime. What I felt erotic about in Japanese animes is actually a result of women's body lines and the combination of complex colors. The use of colors seems accurate and discreet. Color codes and so on are noted on the draft sketch well. I thought anime drawings were a kind of art but actually it seems very scientific. Our sexual perception seems to be dominated by not art but science in the end.
한때 일본의 야한 애니메를 즐겨봤었다. 솔직히 말하면 그 애니메 속의 여자들은 나에겐 성적의 대상물로 여겨지곤 했다. 변태는 아니고. 오른쪽 사진을 보면서 일본 애니메에 대해 내가 생각했었던 것 뒤에 존재하는 것들을 알아볼 수 있었다. 일본 애니메들에서 내가 에로틱하게 느꼈던 것들은 사실 여체의 선들과 복잡한 색들의 조합의 산물이다. 색들의 사용은 정확하고 신중해보인다. 색번호 등등이 밑그림에 잘 기록되어 있다. 애니메 작업을 일종의 예술로 봤었는데, 이 사진을 보니 아주 과학적인 것 같다. 우리 인간의 성적 인식은 결국 예술에 의해서가 아니라 과학에 의해서 지배받는 것 같다.

This museum is located directly on the shore of Oresund and at the 30 minutes distance by car from Copenhagen. It has a wide range of modern art works from World War II up to now, including works by Andy Warhol, Alberto Giacometti, Henri Moore, and Pablo Picasso. Our local tour guide Mr. Park recommended this place because of its architecture. At the begining, there was a villa for a rich man in the place. Interestingly, the name of the museum derives from the owner of the property. He names the villa after his three wives, each with the name of Louise. I was told that Wilhelm Wohlert and Jorgen Bo, who designed the museum, spent a few months walkig around the property before deciding how a new construction would best fit into the landscape (source: wikipedia). What wonderful architects!!! Spending times along with something to feeling it is what designers should learn these days. The first picture shows a rest place with a beautiful seaside view at the museum. It is funny there is the spring board in the place even though nobody jumps into the sea on the board. Perhaps, people who take a rest here might be diving into the sea. The other picture shows a place where videos are projected. Visitors can take a break in the room for a while, lying on Fatboy. This museum seems to aim not to show artifacts but to make visitors feel relaxed. Lovely museum!
Oresund 해변에 바로 붙어있는 이 뮤지엄은 코펜하겐에서 차로 30분 정도의 거리에 위치해있다. 2차대전부터 오늘날까지의 다양한 현대 예술작품들을 소장하고 있다. 그 중에는 Andy Warhol, Alberto Giacometti, Henri Moore, Pablo Picasso의 작품들도 있다. 우리의 현지가이드 박선생은 이 뮤지엄의 건축때문에 이 장소를 추천했다. 처음에 이 장소는 어느 부유한 이의 빌라였다고 한다. 흥미롭게도, 이 뮤지엄 이름은 사실상 그 아저씨로 부터 지어졌다. 부유하니 만큼 3명의 아내를 두었는데, 그녀들 이름에 모두 Louise가 있었고 그 이름을 따서 그 빌라를 Louisiana라고 불렀다고 한다. 이 뮤지엄의 건축가인 Wilhelm Wohlert와 Jorgen Bo는 새 건축물이 이 아름다운 경관에 어떻게 최고로 어울리게 할 수 있을지 결정하기 전에 여기에서 몇달을 머물며 거닐었다고 한다 (출처: wikipedia). 멋진 아저씨들. 그 어떤 것을 느끼기 위해 그 어떤 것과 함께 시간을 보내는 것. 이는 오늘 날의 디자이너들이 배워야할 점이다. 위의 첫번째 사진은 뮤지엄내 아름다운 해안 경관을 가진 곳에 위치한 관람객을 위한 쉼터을 보여주고 있다. 실제로 작동(?)되는 Spring board는 아니지만 그런 장소에 이게 있으니 재미있다. 아마도 이곳에서 휴식을 취하는 사람들은 마음 속으로 나마 바다로 다이빙하고 있을꺼다. 그 아래 사진은 비디오가 상영되고 있는 공간이다. 관람객들은 Fatboy라는 사랑스러운 쿠션 위에 누워 상영물을 보며 잠시나마 휴식을 할 수 있다. 이 뮤지엄은 예술이라는 인공물을 보여주기 보다는 관람객들에게 휴식을 주는 것에 목적을 두고 있는 것 같다. 사랑스러운 뮤지엄임에 틀림없다.

Kronborg Castle, at the seaward approach to The Sound
Øresund, is one of northern Europe's most important Renaissance castles. There is a museum in the castle in which things are exhibited related to navigation and vessels. Among many travel products exhibited, the suitcase shown in the picture caught my attention. It seems around the mid of 20th century one. It looks very functional. One compartment in left side is for clothes and they are packed up without being fold. In the way, no wrinkles are made in clothes. The other compartment in the opposite side is for small stuffs and there are 5-6 drawers. In that way, small travelling stuffs don't roll over in the suitcase. It seems a movable wardrobe. It is a shame that it is bulky and heavy, though.
Sound Øresund 해협의 바다쪽 입구에 있는 Kronborg 성은 북유럽의 가장 중용한 르네상스 성들 중의 하나다. 이 성에는 항해와 선박과 관련된 것들을 전시되고 있는 뮤지엄이 있다. 전시된 많은 여행용 제품들 중에, 사진 속의 여행가방이 눈길을 끌었다. 대략 20세기 중엽의 것으로 보이는 데, 아주 기능적이다. 왼쪽의 공간은 옷들을 보관하는 공간으로 옷을 접지 않고도 수납이 가능하다. 그럼으로해서 옷들에 주름이 잡히지 않도록. 반대편의 다른 칸은 주로 작은 것들을 위한 것으로 5-6칸의 서랍이 있다. 작은 여행용품들을 서랍에 넣음으로써 가방안에서 떼꿀떼꿀 굴러다닐 염려가 있다. 한마디로 이동식 옷장이다. 근데 부피가 너무 크고 또한 무겁다는 것이 아쉽다.
