When I tried to take a picture of this scene, the driver was laughing looking at me. The guy must have been a worker to fix stuff related to utility because the van had such a kind of company name on it and also he did look like that. He just looked like one of mundane Dutch people on the street (I am sure he had nothing to do with product design) but he would know how to give fun to people if the duck was from his idea. They appear to be genetically talented in designing, using humor.
이 사진을 찍을 때, 그 운전기사가 옆에서 나를 보며 웃는다. 밴에 적힌 회사 이름을 보나 그 사람의 생김새를 보나 전형적인 전기 혹은 수도 관련 엔지니어임에 틀림없다. 지극히 길거리의 전형적인 평범한 네덜란드 사람들 처럼 생겼다 (생김새로 판단하는 것은 항상 정확하진 않지만, 제품 디자인과는 관련이 없는 사람일꺼야). 하지만 오리가 그의 아이디어라면 그는 진정으로 사람들에게 재미를 줄 줄 안다. 네덜란드 인간들 가끔보면 유전학적으로 유머와 관련된 디자인에 타고 난 것 같다.

A street performance artist who stands still like a statue laid this bear doll poked by a spear in the middle of the square just in order to catch people's attentions.
조각상처럼 가만히 서있는 길거리 아티스트가 창에 찔린 곰 인형을 광장 한가운데 던져놓았다. 사람들의 관심을 끌기 위해.

It doesn't matter whether it can fly or not in actuality. I just like to see it because it reminds me of a dream in my childhood.
이 놈이 실제로 날 수 있는지 없는지는 그렇게 중요하지 않다. 그냥 이것을 보고 있으면 좋다. 내 어린 시절의 어떤 꿈을 떠올리게 하기에.

Dutch people intend not to hide anything related to minorities in their society such as deformed children like the picture above. What is regarded as shameful things in Korean society are not in the Netherlands. I could feel his parents' pride and love as reading what they said about their son, Daniel.
네덜란드 인간들은 사진에서 보듯 기형아로 태어난 아이들과 같은 사회적 약자들과 관련된 어떤 것에 대해서도 감추려고 하지 않는다. 한국 사회에서는 의례 수치스러운 것으로 간주되는 것들이 네덜란드에서는 부끄러운 일이 아니다. 다니엘의 부모님들의 말에서 장애 아들에 대한 그들의 사랑과 자부심을 느낄 수 있었다.
