People have used a mug cup as a pencil organizer on desk. The cup is used with a fridge. The magnetic storage cup manufactured by Lockermate. Because of cup's round shape, nobody seemed to think about using a cup for storage on the door of a fridge in the past. A simple idea made it realized: cutting the cup half. A similar idea like this appears in a design work of Nothing design group in South Korea. They also cut a plant pot half instead of a mug cup. Please see this if you are interested.
사람들은 책상에서 머그컵을 필통으로 사용해왔다. 그 머그컵은 냉장고에서도 같은 용도로 사용될 수 있다. 락커메이트에 의해 만들어진 자석 수납컵. 컵의 둥근 형태때문에, 과거엔 아마도 그런 형태때문에 냉장고 문에 수납용으로 부칠 생각을 못했던 것 같다. 컵을 반으로 자르는 단순한 아이디어가 이것을 가능케했다. 이것과 유사한 아이디어가 한국의 디자인그룹 낫씽디자인의 어느 작품에서도 보인다. 그들은 머그컵대신 화분을 반으로 잘랐다. 관심있으신 분은 이곳을 보시길.

It has a typical form of a coffee cup: curvy shape, wide mouth and narrow bottom. From the aesthetic point of view, it suits well when black colored coffee is filled in it. Whereas, it is very practical to drink a soup in it because it has a grip which helps hold it: the picture shows a coffee cup filled in Korean soy bean soup. Elegant products such as the cup could be something different when they meet our daily things.
곡면, 위 부분이 바닥에 비해 넓은 전형적 형태의 커피잔. 미적 관점에서는 이 잔에 까만색의 커피가 담겨있는 것이 잘 어울린다. 반면, 손잡이가 있어 이 컵은 soup을 마실 때에도 아주 실용적이다. 사진은 한국의 된장국이 담겨진 커피잔을 보여주고 있다. 이런 컵과 같은 elegant한 제품들이 우리들 일상의 것들과 만날 때 무엇인가 다른 의미를 가질 수 있다.
