이곳의 겨울은 끔찍하다. 눈이라면 그래도 낭만은 있지, 눈대신 비가 억수로 온다 그리고 바람과 함께. 자전거가 주교통수단이 이곳에서 겨울은 그야 말로 매일 매일이 철인 3종 경기다. 그래도 가끔 파란 하늘을 볼 때면, 그래도 지구는 돈다라는 생각을 한다. 인상파가 네덜란드에서 크게 번성한 것도 어떻게 보면 날씨탓. 디자인도 그런 것 같고. 회색과 어둠 속에서 색과 빛을 얼마나 갈구했을까 여기 살아보지 않고는 상상이 안갈듯.

The winter here is horrible. Snow sounds a bit romantic but it always rains like a crazy dog even with strong wind. Every day is a competition like triathlon to people taking bikes which are an main tranportation here. However I realize the earth is revolving when it is rarely sunny. Prosperity of the impressionism in the Netherlands is attributed to the terrible weather. Supposedly so is design. Can you imagine how they look forward to colors and lights in grey and darkness? Maybe not if you have experienced winter here.
