I had a feeling that American people didn't pay much attention to details of their daily-used products. This thought came from the fact that they like super-sized ones and they don't care about citizens' lives such as Iraq, Afghanistan, and so on. Different from the thought, they seem to pay attention to small things. I've never seen these buttons on elevators. The ones I have seen are just flat buttons with numbers on flat stainless steel plate. However, this has angles which face users and make them see the numbers better as you see in the picture above. Thanks to this angles, It is also even easier to press them: probably it seems to have a leverage system inside using the angle.
미쿡사람들은 매일 매일 사용하는 제품들의 디테일에 주의를 기울이지 않는다고 생각했다. 나의 이 생각은 그 미쿡사람들이 엄청 큰 사이즈를 좋아하고 이라크와 아프카니스탄과 같은 나라의 소시민들의 목숨에는 관심이 없다는 사실에서 연유한 것이다. 이런 나의 생각과 다르게, 그들은 사소한 것들에도 관심을 보이는 모양이다. 이때까지 타 본 엘리베이터들 중에서 이러한 버튼을 가진 것을 본적이 없다. 내가 봐왔던 것은 평평한 스탱판 위에 숫자들이 있는 그런 평평한 버튼들이었다. 사진에서의 이 엘리베이터는 사용자가 더 쉽게 볼 수 있도록 사용자쪽으로 각도를 가지고 있다. 또한 이런 모양 덕분에 버튼을 누리기도 한결 쉽다: 아마도 이 각도를 이용하여 버튼 안에 어떤 지렛대 시스템을 가지고 있는 것 같다.

Most of the buses in Arizona look like the one in the picture above. They have a bike rack just in front of them and a foldable steel plate for wheel-chaired passengers on the side of them. The bike rack can have capacity of two bikes only. So, if you commute by bike and the rack of a coming bus is full, you are supposed to wait for the next one (if the next one has no place, next one....? it would be faster by bike in case of uncertainty). With the existence of the steel plate, wheel-chaired passengers can easily get on the bus (of course with the help of the bus driver). It takes quite some time for them to get in, though. Dutch buses do not have the foldable steel plate. Instead, Dutch government provides special vehicles by which wheel-chaired people can move. In the sense that the Arizona bus makes other passengers wait for additional five minutes until a wheel chaired person gets in, I think Dutch bus system is more wise than the one in Arizona because both normal and wheel-chaired passengers can save time.
대다수의 아리조나 시내버스들은 사진에서의 모양을 가진다. 버스 앞에는 자전거랙이 있고 버스 측면에는 휠체어 승객을 위한 접이식 철판이 있다. 자전거랙은 자전거 2대가 맥시멈이다. 그래서 만약 여러분이 자전거로 출퇴근하고 오고 있는 자전거랙에 빈자리가 없으면 다음 버스를 기다려야 한다 (다음 버스도 자리가 없으면 그 다음 버스로..? 그럴꺼면 자전거로 가는 것이 더 빠르겠다). 철판의 존재로 휠체어 승객들은 쉽게 버스에 탈 수 있다 (물론 버스아저씨의 도움으로). 하지만 그분들 타는데 시간이 꽤 걸린다. 네덜란드의 시내버스들은 그런 도움 철판이 없다. 대신 네덜란드 정부에서 제공되는 특수밴을 이곳의 휠체어 이용자들은 탄다. 아리조나의 시내버스에서는 한대의 휠체어를 위해 나머지 승객들이 5분이상을 기다려야 한다는 것을 생각할 때, 네덜란드의 버스시스템이 더 현명해 보인다. 일반승객이나 장애승객들 둘다 서로를 위해 기다릴 필요가 없기 때문에.

Things in the US are always bigger than those in other countries because they love super-size. The carton for juice isn't exception. Its volume is more than 1.5 liter, which means it is still stable even after putting many flowers in the carton with water. The empty carton can rebirth as a flower vase in the way instead of being thrown away.
미국에서의 물건들은 다른 나라들의 것들과 비교해서 항상 크다. 미국사람들이 수퍼사이즈를 좋아하는 것이 그 이유 중의 하나일 수 있다. 쥬스팩도 미국에서는 예외가 아니다. 부피가 1.5리터 이상이다. 그래서 물을 넣고 많은 꽃을 담아도 여전히 안정적이다. 이 빈 종이팩은 휴지통으로 버려지는 대신 이렇게 종이화병으로 다시 태어날 수 있다.
